On 13th of January the first ever no castling chess tournament was conducted in Chennai. The young talents of the Kramnik Gelfand camp indulged in a blitz event of no castling chess. Kramnik and Gelfand decided to visit the venue to kibitz the games and couldn’t stop themselves from playing a couple of games! Here’s the first of the two.

Why did it end? Who won? Is kramnik keeping time with his left hand flapping? What kind of pleasingly clunky pieces are those that he can spin in his hand ?

I believe that the original 'Shatranj' game in India did not have castling. 🙂
Hi
Hey
Was it a draw??
draw
Plz plz write the annotations of the game in the description, it will really help
I play this variant every game but unintentionally
It is good to see them enjoying here in India
I always thought that for the variant Chess960, if they end up with the Standard setup after randomizing, they could just have a rule of "no castling for Standard setup" so that they would at least be playing something different in that case.
Even now Kramnik does not lose with White.
15:49 or 15.4 Don t set board wrong
Why did someone behind camera dismiss the kid at the end?

I used to play no castling chess. Then I learned how to castle. What a load of nonsense.
Seems like gelfand isnt really motivated
Mby next Kramnik vs Famous Trask Talker Boston Mike?
Always a joy to watch Big Vlad play chess.
I propose a chess variant in which pawns do not move.
2d boards please u guys could really make already great content that much better
@chessbaseindia Why don't you show both the chess board and the video of the players, which I think are taken with a great effort by travelling to many countries. This will lead to a better user experience with proper viewing angle of the board while watching these videos and also, you will be having more number of viewers for these videos w.r.t other chess channels as they do the coverage of same games only with the board. It will be great if you have the bigger portion of the screen with the chess board and the smaller portion with the video of the players(at the bottom right or some other corner).
Gelfand after the happy hour
gms at game they have never played before
Gelfand lools like sylvester stallone from this side
could you post the PGN of the game in the description if possible?
partidon
Why Indians always say the word "into" when telling a piece move?
Notice how Kramnik delicately hits the clock while Gelfand slams it with authority lol
why gerlfand look so stressfull ?
2:22 🤣
omg 10:59 😲what that guy doing in background pink dress😲😲😲😲😲😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Vladimir kramnik looks like Johny
Bravo
So they tried this variation without castling to reduce the number of draws, then in the first game it ends in … a draw.
They should put the rooks upside down as a way of reiterating that this is a no-castling game. It could also be used in regular chess once a rook is no longer eligible for castling.
love that gangsta laugh from Kramnik @15:31
Dont like this variant at all, the play is way less various and interesting. Much better a radical different one, switching chess, where friendly pieces can switch their positions except the king
